Your Role at Baxter
As part of an R&D project team, the Principal Electrical Engineer owns the design of modules, circuit boards, and sub-assemblies, from conception to production. Incumbent will work as part of a team and ensure that the project progresses in the defined manner.
This is a hybrid role. Our team works Mondays and Fridays remotely and Tuesday through Thursday onsite at our Batesville, IN location.
What you’ll be doing
Willing to learn from expert engineers, receive mentorship on technical issues, engage in design reviews, and help resolves sophisticated problems.
This position will give you the opportunity to design circuit boards that run motors, control touch screen displays, monitor patient weight, heart rate, and respiratory rate, control blowers for air mattresses and communicate with the hospital network through Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
You will be involved in every part of the process, from working with Hospitals to understanding user needs, developing requirement, setting schedules, designing circuit boards, testing your designs, supporting circuit board manufacturing, supporting product assembly procedures and test systems, and supporting the initial deliveries to customers.
What You’ll Bring
BS Electrical Engineering for accredited college/university or equivalent
5 year of engineering experience working of circuit board design
Strong organizational and communication skills
Proficient problem-solving skills
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and applicable Engineering Software
Experience in the medical device industry and FDA Regulations is preferred
Preferred Experience:
Design of circuit boards with embedded processors (ARM is preferred)
Experience working with schematics (DxDesigner), layouts (Mentor Graphics Xpedition), design analysis (Mentor Graphics HyperLynx)
Experience with digital design and basic software development for testing hardware designs.
Experience with documenting designs and analysis including hardware requirements, hardware detailed design, DFMEA, Risk Analysis, and testing requirements.
Experience designing communication interfaces between circuit boards including, CAN, USB, SPI, I2C, LVDS, and display boards.
Experience interfacing both analog and digital sensors to embedded processors including air pressure, temperature, load cells, current measurement, and others.
Experience designing DC to DC switching power supplies.
Experience with designing for radiated emissions, ESD, cost, reliability, and DFM

The estimated base salary for this position is $68,000 to $156,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
