The Sr. Mechanical Designer is responsible for crafting three-dimensional mechanical part and assembly models using computer aid design (CAD) software and using these models to build two-dimensional drawing for manufacturing. Technical design contributions occur within an area of expertise as a member of a multidisciplinary team in the Research and Development division. Assist engineers and their designer peers in developing and maintaining product designs. High proficient to design for manufacturing under general mentorship, demonstrates proficiency in new and sustaining design processes with compliance with standard engineering guidelines.

This is hybrid role with mix of remote and onsite work in Batesville, IN.
What you’ll be doing

Apply technical design competencies in difficult situations
Identifies technical design problems
Share design knowledge within others in the team
Generate alternatives and take reasonable risks while solving design problems
Generate technical design documentation to capture and communicate designs
Seek knowledge of the business, market, industry and competitive environment
Complete assigned tasks on time with minimal supervision
Uses existing tools and best practices to report
Inform others proactively about developments or issues that affect their work, and their ability to meet commitments
Understand and control module assemblies – be introduced in Master Model

What you’ll bring

Associate Degree or local equivalent of the same preferred
4+ years’ experience using a computer aided design (CAD) system for mechanical 3D models.
Experience with designing 3D models at component level.
Generate and/or modify the 2 dimensional engineering drawings with current drafting standards.
Strong Organizational and communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment
Proficient problem-solving skills
Sheet metal and some plastic design experience
Experience in design and revision control

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $36,000 to $90,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
